As an important production and consumption country of wheat gluten in the world, China's output and consumption of the product has kept rising in recent years. The country totally produces about 200,000 tonnes of wheat gluten in 2010, and it is equipped with a capacity exceeding 410,000t/a in 2011. Most of the products are exported to Southeast Asia, South America, Australia, Europe and the U.S.

In addition, China's consumption of wheat gluten has also been growing in recent years. Domestic users prefer home-made wheat gluten with little import. The top two application fields of the product go to food and feed fields in 2010. Thanks to the increasing demand from downstream industries such as food, feed and aquatic products, China's total output of wheat gluten will keep its uptrend in the next few years.
