L-Cysteine Demand Increased in Past Two Years

Since China’s L-Cysteine products are export-oriented, domestic L-Cysteine industry experienced tough time during the global economic crisis in 2008. But it is delightful that the L-Cysteine market gradually returned back to normal in 2009-2010. Thanks to the recovery of global market, the demand for L-Cysteine products has been increasing in recent years.

The production capacity of L-Cysteine products reaches about 11,000t/a in 2010, but most of them are for export. From 2006 to 2010, the capacity increased from about 8,000 t/a to about 11,000t/a.

What’s more, about 1,800 tonnes of L-Cysteine products are consumed in different downstream industries in 2010. Foods, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics are the top three consumption fields in China, among which foods consume 35% of total consumption market.

All data and findings are from CCM’s latest study of L-Cysteine this October, namely Production, Market and Benchmarking of L-Cysteine in China. For more information about it, please feel free to contact us at econtact@cnchemicals.com.
