What is the Future Consumption of Major Rice Insecticide Products?

CCM International has released November Issue of Insecticides China News recently, revealing the future consumption of major rice insecticide products.

As one of the most important pesticide in China, rice insecticide attracts much attention. Rice insecticide products can be divided into three categories based on the development trend of future consumption. The first category will enjoy consumption rise in the future; the second one will see stable development and the third one will face drop.

Chlorantraniliprole and flubendiamide are the hottest rice insecticide products. DuPont's 200g/l chlorantraniliprole SC has become one of the most important pesticides to combat rice leaf roller in China since 2008. Syngenta's 20% thiamethoxam • 20% chlorantraniliprole WDG, Bayer CropScience's 3.3% abamectin • 6.7% flubendiamide SC are also widely used in China. Thanks to good control effect, these products are expected to have a growing consumption in the future.

The consumption of imidacloprid and thiamethoxam (both for seed treatment) is expected to increase in the future because of the good control effect against rice black streaked dwarf disease.

As of the second category, the consumption of chlorpyrifos, abamectin, buprofezin, dichlorvos, triazophos, nitenpyram, acetamiprid, acephate and phoxim is expected to keep stable in the near future, because most Chinese pesticide companies are producing and marketing the formulations of these products.

The consumption of some old and highly toxic products such as isocarbophos, phorate and bisultap will decrease in the future. With the increase in public awareness and demand for safe foods, the application of highly toxic products will surely face tough restriction from the government.
