CCM International has launched the first issue of Biomaterials China News in December 2012. The first issue presents that Wanwei Updated High-tech Material Industry Co., Ltd. (Wanwei Updated High-tech) will expand its polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) capacity to 250,000t/a at the beginning of 2012 from 150,000t/a now.
The total capacity of PVA is divided into three production lines: the old PVA production line with capacity of 100,000t/a in the company's headquarters in Chaohu, Anhui Province, the new production line with capacity of 100,000t/a in Inner Mongolia Mengwei Technology Co., Ltd. (Inner Mongolia Mengwei) and the bio-based PVA production line with capacity of 50,000t/a in GuangXi Guangwei Chemical Co., Ltd. (Guangxi Guangwei).
There are not just the news of PVA production capacity expansion. According to the staff from Inner Mongolia Mengwei, although without the specific timetable, there is a plan of another new production line construction with capacity of 100,000t/a built in Inner Mongolia Mengwei. It is estimated that the PVA capacity of Wanwei Updated High-tech will increase to 350,000t/a in the near future.
In addition, Wanwei Updated High-tech is trying its best to develop the downstream products such as PVB and PVA membrane, in order to increase the company's PVA output in the near future.
