Production and consumption situation of China's acrylonitrile industry

China's acrylonitrile industry has enjoyed a steady expansion during 2008–2012. According to CCM’s report Market of Acrylonitrile in China, issued in February 2013, the domestic acrylonitrile capacity has exceeded 1.3 million t/a as of January 2013, while the consumption volume has been over 1.5 million tonnes, which means China still needs to import a considerable amount of acrylonitrile every year to fill the gap between supply and demand.

At present, acrylonitrile is mainly used in the production of acrylic fiber, ABS, PAM, acrylamide, NBR, etc. Among which, acrylic fiber is still the largest consumer of acrylonitrile, though its consumption demand for acrylonitrile has been dropping during 2008–2012.

As for the other two downstream fields, namely ABS and PAM, they are expected to show remarkable performance in terms of output and consumption volume. ABS is even estimated to surpass acrylic fiber to be the largest consumer of acrylonitrile in China in the future, given its increasing growth of output.

In the report, CCM focuses on the production situation and consumption pattern of China's acrylonitrile industry during 2008–2012, and forecasts its development in the next five years. In “Production situation of acrylonitrile in China during 2008–2012” part, readers can obtain the basic information of acrylonitrile production and producers, geographical distribution of production and new projects or expansion programs in relation to acrylonitrile production.

The report has also revealed the import and export situation of acrylonitrile in China during 2011–2012. The findings are concluded by CCM’s researchers basing on a large amount of data sourced from China Customs. Through these findings readers can get a lot of intelligences on China’s acrylonitrile industry, such as major exporters and importers, export destinations, export and import volume and value. With respect to the consumption situation of acrylonitrile in China, CCM will give readers a detailed elaboration of the consumption pattern of acrylonitrile in main end segments, including acrylic fiber, ABS, acrylamide, NBR, etc.

CCM anticipate China's TiO2 export volume to increase in 2013

Judging either from the production scale or the actual production output, China’s titanium dioxide has grown significantly in recent years and China has become one of the most important TiO2 producers in the world. CCM’s experts focus closely on China’s TiO2 market and have their unique perspectives about the development of this industry. With professional market investigations and accurate data, CCM will provide the most impartial, reliable and scientific consultancy service.

According to the TiO2 branch of the Chemical Industry Productivity Promotion Centre of China, the 2012 TiO2 output in China was 1.89 million tonnes, a YoY growth of 7.7% compared to the 1.76 million tonnes (after adjustment) in 2011. In 2012, the TiO2 export volume to the US, Brazil, India and the ASEAN-5 were 77,000 tonnes, 63,000 tonnes, 58,000 tonnes and 147,000 tonnes, increasing by 15.29%, 34.97%, 11.99% and 19.84%, respectively, compared to that in 2011. According to World Bank, the global economic growth is expected to come in at a relatively weak 2.4 percent in 2013, which is better than that in 2012. GDP growth in developing countries is projected to rise to 5.5% in 2013, due to improved financial conditions, a relaxation of monetary policy and stronger high income country growth. GDP growth in high income countries is projected to expand a mediocre 1.3%. Growth should begin firming during 2013. As a result, we anticipate China's TiO2 export volume to increase in 2013.

On the other hand, more than half of China's TiO2 is used in the coatings industry. Furthermore, architectural coatings accounts for 30%–40% of total coatings output in China. Architectural coatings consumption depends on the real estate market. After it entered H2 2012, real estate enterprises showed more initiative to stock up land than in H1 2012, indicating real estate enterprises consider 2013 to be more optimistic than 2012. Low interest rates along with fixed asset investment and resurgence of the whole economy will together raise the YoY growth rate of 2013 social construction starts to 8%. The amount invested in the real estate industry in 2013 is projected to rise by 17.5%. With the gradually improving real estate market, architectural coatings demand will likely increase and push up TiO2 consumption. Thus, we expect 2013 TiO2 output to increase by 10%–15%.

Titanium dioxide export analysis published by CCM will provide clients indentify export situation with exclusive research methods, to offer the target products’ export volume, price, time, source/destination countries, specification, application, the information of exporters, manufacturers, etc.,so as to help customers predict the future of TiO2 industry in China and make wise business decision.

Application of PLA fibre

The physical properties of PLA fibre are close to the nylon and polyester, but its performance is better than polyester, since it is biocompatible, biodegradable and comfortable. It can be used to produce multifilament, monofilament, staple fibre, knitted fabric, nonwoven fabric, etc.

1.  Clothing materials
PLA fibre can be blended with cotton, wool, and cellulose to make knitted or woven fabrics, which can be widely used to make knitted underwear, sportswear, swimwear, T-shirts and woven fashion fabrics, casual wear fabric and dress fabrics. Besides, PLA fibre also has good water diffusion, presenting good shape stability and wrinkle resistance.

2.  Medical materials
PLA fibre not only has good biocompatibility and biodegradability, but also has good security, having no toxic side effects on the human body, so it can be widely used in the medical field. PLA fibre can be used as surgical sutures, fixtures inside bone, tissue engineering scaffolds, bandages, disposable medical supplies, drug-loaded materials in drug delivery systems, artificial tissues, etc.

3.  Industrial materials
PLA fibre and its products are widely used in agriculture, such as agricultural chemicals and fertilizer bags, fishing nets, kelp network and fish lines. Besides, they can also be used to make garbage mesh bag, towel, filter paper and clean cloth in the household materials, tarpaulins, covers, and tents in the outdoor materials. PLA fibre can also be used in carpet, and carpet made of PLA fibre has good bulkiness and resilience, as well as flame retardancy and antibacterial and antifungal properties.

4. Cigarette filter materials
PLA fibre has a strong affinity for polar substance, and reactants generated from the chemical reactions among PLA, tar and low molecular substances can firmly stay on the fibre's surface. Besides, there are micropore and rough feeling on the surface of PLA fibre, helping PLA fiber present the double effect of physical and chemical adsorption in the adsorption process of the flue gas. Moreover, PLA fibre has properties of non-toxicity, low smoke, flame resistance, bacteria resistance and UV resistance. PLA fibre price has certain advantages owing to its lower raw materials and production costs. Therefore, acetate fibre and polypropylene fibre can be replaced by PLA fibre to be used for cigarette filter material.
