Dongdan4243, a
government approved hybrid corn variety bred by Liaoning Dongya, yielded a poor
harvest in the southern part of Sichuan, resulting in losses for the local
farmers. The poor harvest is attributed to the abnormal weather in the southern
part of Sichuan Province, which also reflected defects in the variety.
