Demand for Wood Activated Carbon to Rise Continually

Powder Wood Activated Carbon PWACP is Getting Popular

Powder wood activated carbon adopting phosphoric acid activation method (PWACP) is the main type of wood activated carbon in China. PWACP is getting popular among many end users. It is estimated that demand of PWACP would keep growing in the coming five years.

China's wood activated carbon has entered a fast development period since the 1980s. Up to June 2011, the capacity of wood activated has reached about 150,000t/a and capacity of PWACP in China is about 78,000t/a. In China, more than 90% capacity of wood activated carbon is concentrated in Fujian, Jiangxi, Zhejiang and Jiangsu Provinces.

There is a promising market for PWACP in China. More new production lines of PWACP will be launched in the coming five years (2011-2015). It is expected that the capacity and output of PWACP in China would increase accordingly.

In China， the main consumption fields of PWACP in China include sugar industry, fermentation industry, soft drinks and chemical industry. Sugar industry, accounting for about 55% of the total PWACP consumption in 2010, is the largest consumption field.
