How Will Global Mancozeb Market Go from 2012 to 2016?

Mancozeb, a broad-spectrum fungicide, introduced in 1962 but still plays a significant role in the world fungicide market. It is used on a wide variety of food/feed crops, including fruit trees, vegetable crops, field crops, etc. Mancozeb can control early blight, late blight, anthracnose, rust, downy mildew, etc. The demand of mancozeb is increasing year by year, and its global capacity increased largely during 2003 to 2009. With its market value reaching USD400 million in 2009, mancozeb’s global capacity is estimated to exceed 220,000t/a in 2010. What is the overall information of mancozeb registration, supply, demand, international trade flows and market price in global market? What are the 2012 – 2016 future trends of above aspects respectively?

As one of the most popular bulk commodities of fungicides, mancozeb is manufactured concentrate on Asia-pacific, South America and Europe. In recent years, global market of mancozeb has had some changes. The Asia-pacific, shares the largest percent of global mancozeb market, and China and India are the largest producers of mancozeb in Asia-pacific. Furthermore, South America also has a big share of mancozeb market, but its production bases nearly serve for North America market. The U.S. is the represent country. Most of the mancozeb is exported to the U.S. European market deserves attention as it takes up a large part of total mancozeb market share in the world. About 80% of European mancozeb is consumed by itself. How does mancozeb industry develop in major countries, such as China, India, Australia, Thailand, USA etc? What are the registration, supply, demand, and future forecast of mancozeb in these countries?

In addition, some huge producers of mancozeb had some merger projects and there are some policies related to mancozeb in some countries, which would certainly have influence on the global market of mancozeb. For example, UPL purchased the fungicide business which including the mancozeb technical business in the world and related property from DuPont in June 2010. What’s more, Dow AgroScience India was resisted by Indian government due to its bribe on pesticide registration. These factors probably make the global circulation situation of mancozeb change. What are the company dynamics of key mancozeb manufacturers in the world, including Dow AgroSciences, UPL, Bayer, Du Pont etc?
All questions will be answered in CCM International’s upcoming report of Survey of Global Mancozeb. The report is expected to come out in May, 2012. If you need more detail of this report, please feel free to contact us at econtact@cnchemicals.com.

Bayer’s First Chinese Seed Treatment Application Center Opens

CCM International has published the latest issue of Crop Protection China News on November 30th , 2011, presenting that Bayer CropScience (China) sets up its first Seed Treatment Application Center in China on 10 Nov., 2011, the seventh one of Bayer CropScience in the world.

Bayer’s first Chinese seed treatment application center is located in Haidian District, Beijing City, with the most advanced seed processing equipments and detection measures. It is considered to be a bond among R&D of new seed processing products, marketing and seed customers, including the services of customer support & training, tailored technical solutions, etc.

Seed treatment agent is one of the most important products in agricultural production. The registration fee of a compound seed treatment agent reaches USD78,740.16 (RMB500,000), which blocks the entering of small-sized pesticide players.

There is a great prospect of seed treatment agent in China. At present, there are over 400 seed treatment agent players in China. The annual increment speed of the total sales volume has reached 10% in recent years. Bayer and other international pesticide enterprises have also engaged in this field for many years.

With the fast growing market of seed treatment agent in China, it’s necessary for international crop protection giants to enter China's market with high quality products, for example, Bayer CropScience's Gaucho (70% imidacloprid), Sygenta's Dividend (difenoconazole) and Celest (fludioxonil).

The above is extracted from CCM International’s Crop Protection China News. More information about Bayer’s first Chinese seed treatment application center, please contact us at econtact@cnchemicals.com.

Bayer Sets up Seed Treatment Application Center in China

Bayer CropScience (China) sets up its first Seed Treatment Application Center in China on 10 Nov., 2011 and it is the seventh one of Bayer CropScience in the world, based on CCM’s latest issue of Crop Protection China News.

The application center is located in Haidian District, Beijing City, with the most advanced seed processing equipment and detection measures. It is considered to be a bond between the R&D of new seed processing products, marketing and seed customers, including the services of customer support & training, tailored technical solutions, etc.

As seed treatment agent is one of the most important products in agricultural production, large international pesticide enterprises, such as Syngenta, Bayer and Dow AgroSciences, have got involved in the field since many years ago. The sales revenue of seed treatment in Bayer CropScience in 2010 reached about USD450.19 million, accounting for 8.9% of its total revenue, about USD5,048.95 million.

Eyeing the growing market of seed treatment agent in China, international crop protection giants have continuously entered China's market with high quality products, such as Bayer CropScience's Gaucho (70% imidacloprid), Sygenta's Dividend (difenoconazole) and Celest (fludioxonil).

Some self-developed products by Chinese enterprises have also shown good performance in domestic pesticide market in recent years, such as Yuezhong (60% imidacloprid) from Shenzhen Noposion Agrochemical Co., Ltd. and Fudie (70% imidacloprid) from Hebei Veyong Bio-Chemical Co., Ltd.

So far, there are more than 400 seed treatment agent players in China. The annual increment speed of the total sales volume has reached 10% in recent years, showing the great prospect of seed treatment agent in China.

According to CCM International, the total consumption volume of seed treatment agent in China reached 41,000 tonnes in 2009, valuing USD150 million.

Some insiders in China even predict that seed treatment agent, after herbicide, will account for large share of domestic pesticide market in the next three to five years.

However, problems still lie ahead of domestic seed treatment agent industry, even though it has witnessed rapid development in recent years, such as weak R&D capability, weak market surveillance, etc.

The R&D capability of seed treatment in China is largely lagged behind that of some developed countries due to the late start of domestic research. Although some large pesticide players have realized the prospect of seed treatment agent and put investment R&D in recent years, most of their products' quality don't come close to those of foreign products. As more and more sub-quality products appear in domestic market (there are some good quality products but without good usage instructions, while foreign enterprises do a good job in this terms), peasants prefer foreign seed treatment agent to domestic one.

Domestic market of seed treatment agent also faces the problem of lacking efficient market surveillance, which has led to many illegal productions and sales of seed treatment agent. Highly toxic seed treatment agents which can bring large profit still take up large market share in China.

However, compared with other branches of pesticide industry in China, the situation seems not so serious.

The registration fee of a compound seed treatment agent reaches USD78,740.16 (RMB500,000), which blocks the entering of small-sized pesticide players.
