Anhui Zhongshan Chemical to construct 15,000t/a
of herbicide TC production lines
Anhui
Zhongshan Chemical is planning to construct three herbicide technical
production lines with a total production capacity of 15,000t/a for simazine
technical, terbuthylazine technical, prometryn technical and terbutryn
technical. There will also be one intermediate production line, for 98%
phthalimide, with a production capacity of 500t/a.

in 2013
According to
the ICAMA, there were 991 new registrations of herbicides in 2013, 156 of which
were for herbicide technical (TC) and 835 were for formulations. The figure
excludes renewals for old registrations.

Overview of acetochlor market status in China
in 2013
In 2013, the
market downturn and reduced demand for acetochlor continued in China, even
though it appeared to slightly rebound. In addition, the production situations
of most manufacturers indicate that the market demand for acetochlor improved
in late 2013.

Export volume of China's 2,4-D up 12.04% YoY,

In the first
ten months of 2013, China's export volume of 2,4-D witnessed a year-on-year
growth of 12.04%. Specifically, the export volume of 2,4-D formulations
increased by 30.59% year-on-year, while the export volume of 2,4-D technical
declined by 4.19% year-on-year during this period, according to China Customs
and CCM.

China's clodinafop-propargyl exports decline by

In the first
nine months of 2013, the total export volume of clodinafop-propargyl technical
and formulations in China was around 254 tonnes, with a year-on-year decline of
15.24%, according to China Customs.
Market situation of herbicide EC formulations
Currently,
although China is paying increasing attention on the restriction of hazardous
solvents in pesticide ECs, Herbicide ECs still take up a large share in the
herbicide market and its development will show a tendency towards environmental
protection and a high content of active ingredients.
Slowdown seen in fenoxaprop-P-ethyl development
in China
In recent
years, China's development of fenoxaprop-P-ethyl has slowed or even stalled.
The total production capacity of fenoxaprop-P-ethyl technical has remained at a
steady level with no increase in 2009-2013. Its output and consumption only
witness a slight growth in this period.

Short supply causes paraquat price to rise
continuously
Since the
beginning of this year, paraquat prices have been soaring due to the short
supply in China. The ex-works price of 42% paraquat TK in China has increased
to USD4,908/t in early Dec. 2013 from USD2,484/t in Jan. 2013, a sharp increase
of 97.58%.
Quizalofop-P-ethyl TC experiences tight supply
in 2013
In 2013,
China's price of quizalofop-P-ethyl technical has maintained an upward trend,
mainly due to the tight supply. There are several factors for the tight supply,
which has caused the price to increase gradually.
